FAQ

1. What are the basic things to start a new website?

There are many things you should know before your start your website, but it also depends on what your website want to do for you? Here it’s only a brief description on things needed to start a very simple website on your own. This list may not be exhaustive.

Domain Name

You are currently at the site www.innodeas.com, where innodeas.com is the domain name. The very first thing you need is to get a new domain name yourself. This is the name of your website. To have a domain name you have to pay an annual amount or fees to a registrar for the right to use that name in the World Wide Web. But this does not get you a website! This just like naming a shop, but now you have to setup your shop. Choose a good domain name which matches with your needs, your tastes or matches with your intended business. To find out whether that domain exists, you can check at any websites which offers domain registration. One example is 3ix.com (http://www.3ix.org). You can check the availability of domain at http://www.3ix.org/sys/domainchecker.php

Web Hosting

Now you need to build you website – host the website. For this you need to find an appropriate web hosting company. A web hosting company will have many computers connected to the Internet. When you place your web pages on their computers, everyone in the world will be able to connect to it and view them in the World Wide Web. You need to sign up for a hosting package (a deal) with the web hosting company. This is as same as buying or leasing a building or place to run as your shop.

Now it’s the design part. How should you website should look like, what all features would be there, what should be the content – these are decided at this stage. Here Innodeas can help you in designing your website in a profitable manner. Content for your website

This is again the input from your side as you know better about yourself or about your company. Rich content is always recommended to make the website visible in World Wide Web.

Verify or Validate your website

This step should be done throughout the design and development cycle of your web pages. The web site should be compatible with major browsers in the industry. Some other checks are whether pictures are coming correctly and fonts and colors you selected are as you wanted in the real explorer window. At Innodeas we have an extensive process to validate and test the web sites before it is published in the World Wide Web.

Making your website more visible

There are different powerful search engines available in the internet. When you are confident with your website (in terms of content and design), you need to submit your site to the search engines. There are again many other ways to advertise your website (Adwords from Google, putting ads on Yahoo!, etc)

A by-product: Your Website making money for you*

This is the most interesting part of it. Your website making money for you? Yes. You can act as a publisher for publishing advertisements in your website from many ad marketers. When the visitor to your site clicks any of these ads, you will get your payment.

So over a period of time, you can earn back your money (or even earn more!) which you invested to make your own website. So what are you waiting for? Contact Innodeas and we will be happy to help you with your website.

* This depends on the traffic you can generate to your website.

2. What is the difference between a dynamic web page and a static web page?

Static means static! No changes at all! All the visitors will see the same stuff over and over! HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is used to create a static website. We can add audio and video files and contact forms to a static website and make it look like a dynamic site, but they are not really DYNAMIC. Each and every visitor is seeing or experiencing the same all the time, the content is not tailored for any specific user.

For small business owners (at least to start with) static web sites are good enough.

The development time needed to bring-up a static web page is less compared to a dynamic site of same content

A dynamic website means 'changing'. A dynamic site is created using scripting languages. Any language like PHP, ASP, ColdFusion, JavaScript, or Perl can be used to develop the dynamic web sites. Visitor’s key in information to the dynamic site and the site can vary according to that information. There is much functionality which can be developed using a dynamic web page. Few are listed below:

· E-Commerce or Shopping Carts websites

· Web pages with login

· Admin section of the websites in order to put new content or data to the user

· Forums and market places

· Blog web sites

Being part of any business, a dynamic website can bring more sales to your company/business. Again less time will be needed for website maintenance.
